![]() Portarlington were level on the half-hour mark after some great work from Warren Murray allowed Conor Houlihan to release Andrew Evans. Garda had their tails up and spent the next ten minutes in the Portarlington half, but the home side’s defence stood firm. The visitors weathered the storm well and it was they who broke the deadlock after 17 minutes when full back, Ian Murphy went over in the corner. Garda were living off scraps, but the home side’s lineout was malfunctioning poorly. The hosts started well, attacking the Garda line with aggression and intent right from the first whistle. This was the first game in Phase 2 of the league, with Portarlington qualifying alongside Portlaoise and Roscrea, while Garda were lucky to scrape through behind North Meath and Balbriggan. The sides were level at half time, but Portarlington kept their guests scoreless after the break, while running in four tries themselves. PORTARLINGTON picked up an important win on Sunday afternoon at home to Garda Westmanstown, earning a bonus-point point late.
